Havis Owens, 88
1938-2026

Havis Odas Owens, 88, of White Hall, Arkansas, was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

He went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2026, resting peacefully at his home.

Havis was born January 10, 1938, in Star City, Arkansas, to Odas Monroe Owens and Mary Lucille Beeson Owens.

His childhood was spent in small towns across southern Arkansas. After graduating as a valedictorian from Norphlet High School, he attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas. He transferred to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA and graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

After graduating he enlisted in the Army Reserves and worked in the biological warfare program at the Pine Bluff Arsenal until it was shut down. Havis then went to work at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) until his retirement.

He was a member of White Hall United Pentecostal Church, and he served as secretary-treasurer and board member for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Winnie Still; and brothers, Roy Owens and Maurice Owens.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Linda Elkins Owens; daughter, Michele Owens (William) of Wylie, TX and son, Michael Owens(Monita) of North Little Rock; and granddaughters, MacKenna Coull of Austin, TX and Ava Coull of Manhattan, KS.

Funeral service will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at White Hall United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Chris Dixon officiating.

Burial will follow in White Hall United Methodist Church Cemetery.
