Dennis Phillips, age 80, of White Hall, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Born at Pine Bluff on December 1, 1943, he was a son of the late Orville Willard Phillips and Heula Mae Insley. He proudly grew up in the “Dew Drop” area and graduated from Dollarway High School in 1961. Dennis graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University in 1966. He also served in the Arkansas National Guard for six years.
For over 40 years, he worked for Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Company, retiring as purchasing agent and sales representative.
Dennis was a member of Plum Bayou Baptist Church. For over 50 years, he was a member of S&H Deer Camp at New Edinburg. Hunting, fishing, and playing tennis were his favorite activities throughout his life. He was always reading a book.
He loved his family dearly, and survivors include his wife, Janie Lee Lachney Phillips, whom he married in 1996; his children, Richard Phillips (husband Lance Hopper) of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico and Leah Phillips Wright (husband Jeff) of Star City; stepchildren, Kayren Segall (husband Jim) of Ball, LA, Kevin Guillory of Marksville, LA, Michelle Guillory of Baton Rouge, LA, and Joshua Guillory of Dallas, TX; three brothers, Orville Willard Phillips, Jr. of Bracey, VA, Paul Franklin Phillips of Floyd, IA, and Don Bedford Phillips of Camden, AR; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with his brothers, Paul Phillips and Don Phillips officiating. Interment will be in White Hall Methodist Cemetery.
