1944-2026
Carolyn Otts, age 82 of Malvern, died Thursday, June 11, 2026 at her home. She was born in Malvern on April 6, 1944 to the late Monroe Fleming and Velma Short Fleming. Reared and educated in Malvern she had been a florist for over 50 years. Carolyn’s talent was known far and wide. She loved flowers and could create beautiful arrangements for any occasion. She trained under two master florists, Tommy Chaffin and Josephine Bray. Carolyn owned and operated the Daisy Patch Florist for a number of years, and later ran the florist inside of Brookshires Grocery, making it the most successful florist in the company’s chain of stores. She attended New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Carolyn was the widow of the late Wayne Otts, to whom she was married on December 31, 1967. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2020. She was a deeply devoted Christian and lived her faith. A more reassuring soul would be rare to know. Carolyn was ready and willing to help anyone, and would share her love of Christ with all who would hear. A dearer friend would be hard to find. She loved her family and doted on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Fleming Otts.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shona and Orlen Wiley; her grandchildren, Nick Wiley (Brittany), Noah Wiley (Michaela), and Lyndi Rayne McWhinney (Jared); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Scarlett, Adaline, and Valerie; and a great-great-grandchild, Alina. She also leaves behind a sister, Glenda Griffin.
Her funeral will be held on Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026, at 2:00, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Pastor James Green officiating. A visitation will proceed the service, beginning at 1:00.
Interment will follow in Rockport Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Noah Wiley, Nick Wiley, Hunter Vincent, Jared McWhinney, Todd Riggan, Jesse Taylor, and Jordan Davis.
The family extends a special thanks to Elite Hospice and Nurse Tiffany Carpenter for their loving care of Carolyn.
Memorials are requested to New Beginnings Baptist Church.
