Carl Wayne Thompson, 81
1943-2025

Carl Wayne Thompson of Sheridan, Arkansas was born December 6, 1943 in Union Hill, Arkansas the son of the late Earl and Mary Corder Thompson. He was a chief boiler inspector for both the state of Arkansas and Louisiana and retired from working at Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville. Carl also served and retired proudly as both enlisted and as an officer in the United States Navy for 22 years. While in the Navy, Carl had many different ships and duty stations he was attached to. Early on while stationed in Chicago as a recruiter, he was able to enjoy lots of time at the Cubs games helping enlist for the Navy. Towards the end of his naval career he was the Commanding Officer for both the Baton Rouge and New Orleans Navy Reserve Centers, a duty that he was particularly proud of accomplishing. During his time in Louisiana, Carl was also a reserve officer for the Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department in which, similar to his days in Chicago, he got to work security for the LSU games. Carl loved living life and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and watching any kind of sports, especially involving Arkansas and LSU, but above all he loved his family and spending as much time as he could with them, he will be dearly missed.
