Billy Ray Jones, 90, of Star City, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home. He was born on February 24, 1936, in Texarkana, Texas to the late Henry and Anna Belle Lee Jones. He retired from International Paper after 34 years.
Billy was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Branchville Lodge of Star City for 62 years. He was also a member of the Jaycees, Morgan Point Hunting Club, and Razorback Booster Club for many years.
Also, preceding him in death were his wife, Maurice Jacks Jones whom he married August 13, 1954, two granddaughters, Jayme Stringfellow and Jayden Davis, and one sister, Nellie Marie “Rita” Jones.
He is survived by his son, Havis Ray Jones (Wendy) of Star City and one daughter, Cheryl Tucker (Joseph) of Star City, six grandchildren; Jessica Villa (Joel), Jennifer Bates, Stephen Jones (Katie), Aubrey Wilson (Chandler), Michelle Kinard (Jeremy), Larry Bode (Shannon), fifteen great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Bill Hilburn officiating. Burial will be Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Stephen Jones, Chandler Wilson, Dalton Bates, Zackary Bates, Jacob Jones, and Jeremy Henderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Silas Bates and Brayden Bates.
