The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating a Wednesday morning shooting that left one person dead.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m., officers responded to 1921 South Elm in reference to a shooting.  When officers arrived, they found two victims outside of the residence.  Both of these victims had been shot and were transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.  

 A third male with gunshot wounds was located just inside of the doorway of the residence.  He was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as 60-year-old Jerry Simmons of Pine Bluff.

Both of the victims taken to the hospital are being treated, with one requiring surgery.

The seriousness of their injuries is currently unknown.

The Pine Bluff Police Department says that the investigation is in the early stages, and the motive of this homicide is still under investigation.

The body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

This is the 20th homicide for Pine Bluff in 2022.
