On May 22, 2025, Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. honored Landon and Kamdon McDaniel with a Resolution of Citizens Meritorious Service during a ceremony at the Sheriff’s office attended by their family. On May 18, 2025, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was engaged in a search for William McElvain. Landon and Kamdon, who were assisting voluntarily with their father Clyde McDaniel, successfully located Mr. McElvain in a dense wooded area and promptly notified the deputies. Their timely actions were crucial in the rescue operation. The Sheriff’s Office commended the McDaniel brothers for their bravery and compassion, highlighting them as exemplary citizens.
