Deltaplex News has learned that the Civic Auditorium Complex Commission has fired Convention Center Director Joseph McCorvey.
The action came during a meeting of the commission which oversees the Convention Center Monday afternoon.
“The Convention Center Commission thanks Mr. McCorvey for the time he has dedicated to he convention center,” a statement from the commission said. “The commission feels the need to move the convention center in a different direction.”
McCorvey had served as director of the convention center since 2018 and prior to that had worked in Memphis, Atlanta, Baltimore, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Alabama and Illinois.
He also spent seven years as Sales Director for the Convention Business Bureau in Akron, Ohio before coming to Pine Bluff.
