A 21-year-old Lonoke County man was killed in the early morning hours Monday when he was hit by a vehicle while walking on the highway.

State Police reported that Salvador Rivera of McCrea was walking on Highway 167 when he was hit by a tractor-trailer that was northbound on the highway. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lonoke County Deputy Coroner.

The accident was reported at 3:47 a.m. on Highway 167 near exit 19 at Cabot.

The report said it was raining and the roadway was wet at the time.

The death was the 155th so far this year on the state’s highways.
