Murder Suspect Arrested in Texas, Awaiting Extradition to Arkansas

A man wanted in connection with a 2025 homicide in Pine Bluff has been arrested in Texas, according to authorities.

Thomaz Johnson was taken into custody in Fort Worth with assistance from the Pine Bluff Police Department, the FBI, U.S. Marshals and law enforcement agencies in Fort Worth. Johnson is wanted for the murder of Jimmy Epperson Jr., which occurred Sept. 23, 2025, near 7th Avenue and Missouri Street in Pine Bluff.

Also located with Johnson was Vanjarius Powell, who is wanted in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County on unrelated felony warrants.

Both Johnson and Powell are currently being held in Fort Worth and are awaiting extradition to Arkansas.

Upon extradition, Johnson will be booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a capital murder charge. Powell will be booked on the outstanding felony warrants.
