A McGehee woman is behind bars after being arrested for allegedly running over her husband with a car over the weekend.
Criminal Investigator Mark Allen with the McGehee Police Department says a 911 call came in Sunday morning at 4:13am requesting an ambulance to 118 Driftwood Drive. When the ambulance arrived, paramedics requested police to come to the scene. They believe that the man was a victim of domestic violence.
Authorities identified the man as Donovan Burnett who was reportedly ran over by a vehicle driven by his wife, 26-year-old Ashleigh Barnes, during a domestic dispute. Burnett suffered significant injuries including a compound fracture in his left leg and a fractured pelvis. He was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff where he underwent surgery to repair his leg.
Barnes was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a household or family member. As of Tuesday, she remains in the McGehee Criminal Justice Facility awaiting her first court appearance.
