A scheduled meeting of committees of the Jefferson County Quorum Court that was scheduled for Tuesday failed to happen as only three members of the county’s legislative body showed up.
Justices of the Peace Dr. Conley Byrd, Ted Harden and Patricia Royal Johnson were in their seats and County Judge Gerald Robinson said Roy Agee was sick and Jimmy Fisher had a emergency or they would have been there.
Robinson said he received an email saying that the other JP’s would not be attending because the agenda for the meeting did not come from the county clerk’s office. The procedures ordinance that group passed when they overrode Robinson’s veto says meeting agendas will come from the County Clerk’s Office and not Robinson’s office, which prepared the agenda for Tuesday.
Robinson talked about those JP’s with Deltaplex News.
He went on to say that the County Clerk’s Office had sent out an email saying the JP’s were trying to give employees “hardship pay.”
Robinson said the group had already given out invalid raises totaling over $400,000.
