Through May of this year, Jefferson County had collected $10.5 million more than through May 2020 and spent just over $10 million more.
According to the county’s financial report which County Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin presented during the Quorum Court meeting Monday, Jefferson County had collected $39.7 million through May 31, compared to collecting $29.1 million in May 2020.
Through May 31, the county spent $33.5 million compared to spending $23.4 million for the same period in 2020.
The financial report showed a balance of $22.7 million for all funds combined, more than $7 million more than the balance in May 2020.
Taxes collected on gaming at the Saracen Casino were $145,646, the report said.
