The Summit Soundz Celebration Band will present their spring concert on Saturday, April 25 at 6:00 PM in the worship center of Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road in Pine Bluff. Music selections will include spirituals and hymn arrangements. Secular features include a beautiful arrangement of the theme song from “Beauty And The Beast” as well as an original composition written by senior baritone player, Henry Chase.
“This will be a special concert because we will recognize the six graduating seniors who participate in the Summit Soundz Band,” said Director Lewis Hinkle. “We will honor their contributions to the band over the time they have been with us. ” The Summit Soundz Scholarship Fund will award over four thousand dollars in scholarships to students planning to attend a summer band camp. All of the scholarship recipients will be acknowledged during the concert.
“It is amazing the amount of financial support we have toward helping these students go to band camp each summer,” said Chris Coody, Summit Soundz tuba player. “We give concert attenders an opportunity to contribute during our concerts and they invest in the lives of these young musicians.” The concert is free to the public but everybody will have an opportunity to contribute to the scholarship fund.
