The American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas, in partnership with Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services and the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Arkansas, will offer free smoke alarm installations to residents in Pine Bluff during a Sound the Alarm home fire safety event on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Volunteers will meet at the fire department, located at 200 E. 8th Ave. in Pine Bluff, before heading out into the neighborhoods from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This effort is part of a national Sound the Alarm initiative to install free smoke alarms and help families create fire escape plans annually in neighborhoods and communities across the U.S. Local Sound the Alarm events like this one are a critical part of the national Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which has helped save at least 2,284 lives since launching in October 2014.
