HELP JEFFERSON COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS “FILL THE TRUCK”
The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers are bringing back “Fill the Truck”, during the 86th Annual SEARK District Fair. EHC members will accept healthy, non-perishable, unexpired food on Thursday, September 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Hestand Stadium Fairgrounds, 420 N. Blake Street in Pine Bluff.
Patricia Burton, JCEHC Community Service Chairman, said, “Please help us with food insecurity in Jefferson County. We need your help to make the Fill the Truck food drive successful.” Burton said families in our community rely on organizations like EHC to help with food for their households. Without these programs many individuals would not have adequate meals.
JCEHC members donate food during the year to four different food pantries including Neighbor to Neighbor, Salvation Army, Transformation Project, and White Hall Food Pantry.
Six EH club’s community service projects for FY2025 include CASA, Knitting Cancer Caps and Sewing Teaching Dolls for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Common Grounds, Hope of the Delta, and Baking Cookies for first responders, news media, nurses, and elected officials, including the County Judge and four Mayors.
A Community Health Fair will be held at the same time as Fill the Truck. If you are interested in being a Health Fair Vendor, call Jefferson County Family & Consumer Sciences Agent and EHC Advisor, Mary Ann Kizer, at (870) 534-1033 for a Vendor Application Form or e-mail [email protected].
Mark your calendar now to bring your food to help Fill theTruck at the SEARK District Fair and Health Fair on Thursday, September 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Club members will be there to help you. By donating food or money you will be helping families in need of food security.
