A recently adopted law in Arkansas prohibits the County Clerk’s Office from sending unsolicited absentee ballot applications to voters who have not recently contacted the clerk’s office to request a new ballot application.
A message from Jefferson Count Clerk Shawndra Taggart said her office has absentee ballot applications available to the public during regular office hours 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday for people who would like to vote by mail.
Voters may also visit the website at www.jeffersoncounty.ar.gov/election-voter-registration to download an application. Mail, fax or scan the completed form to the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office.
Important dates to remember include the following:
May 2 – First day of early voting (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting will continue during regular office hours and there will be no early voting on Saturday.
First day to receive applications for absentee voting by bearer
Last day to receive applications for absentee voting by mail, fax or email
May 5 – Last day to mail absentee ballots
Last day to transfer voters into Jefferson County
May 8 – Last day for early voting (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
May 9 – Election Day (7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
