At its most recent meeting, the City Council at Monticello voted to add a new holiday to the city’s calendar.

That holiday will be Good Friday, which will now be a paid holiday for city employees.

According to the Advance Monticellonian Newspaper, the council also voted to accept bids from Arkansas Strong Roofing, LLC, to repair roofs at various parks and at the Sports Complex.

A resolution allowing the Monticello Police Department to trade two vehicles to go toward the purchase of a 2025 Dodge Durango was approved. That resolution had been approved last month but the council had to do it again because errors were found in the VIN (vehicle identification number) and the price of the vehicle has changed.

A resolution allowing the Mayor to advertise for bids to replace the red light system at U.S. Highways 425 and 278 was also approved by the council.
