Wednesday was the final day for Police Chief Lloyd Franklin Sr., to occupy the office as he officially went back into retirement at noon when new Chief Denise Richardson was sworn in.
Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show, Franklin was asked about the success the department has had in solving a number of major cries, including homicides.
Shortly after he took office, Franklin instituted a program h called Blue Rain to get more officers on the street and he was asked about that program.
Franklin said he talked to Mayor Shirley Washington about what he wanted to do and said the city council approved paying officers for four hours of overtime.
