A Benton man was killed Wednesday morning when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and the vehicle left the roadway, hit a tree, overturned and caught fire.
According to a preliminary report, Peyton L. Mitchell, 24, was southbound on Arkansas Highway 229 approaching Jackman Trail when he failed to negotiate a left facing curve and he lost control of the vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported at 1:15 a.m. and the death was the 33rdso far this year on the state’s highways.
