1943-2026

Donald “Rooster” Roy McCoy, 82 of Tillar, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Lake Village, Arkansas on September 19, 1943, the son of the late Osceola and Myrtle G. McCoy. His parents, five brothers: Lewis, Ned, Eugene, Charlie and Rodney, two sisters; Ann Stout and Alma Diaz, all preceded him in death.

Rooster was a Christian by faith and attended church at McGehee Church of Christ. Rooster spent many years working on farms and working as a carpenter. After retirement Rooster stayed busy, he would read his bible, enjoyed working on yard mowers, gardening and just building things.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Hodges McCoy of Tillar, Arkansas, son, Richard Shane “Bubba” and wife Tanya McCoy of Tyro, Arkansas, and two daughters, Annette “Baby Jane” and husband Bobby Sheilds of Winchester, Arkansas and Judith “Bo” Janette and husband Jon Linely of Back Gate, Arkansas and a special niece Kristin Winters of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, two brothers Harley McCoy of Lake Village, Arkansas Kenneth “Peewee” McCoy of Lake Village, Arkansas, two sisters, Bennie Morgan of Lake Village, Arkansas and Hazel Pettigo of St. Petersburg, Florida, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation and services on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation from 10-11am, with services at 11am, Brother Ricky Epps officiating and burial following in Tillar Cemetery.  Memorials in memory of rooster may be made to a Children’s home or hospital of your choice.
