1960-2026
With profound sadness and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Dawn Gwyn Curton Anderson, affectionately known to her grandbabies as “GG”, who entered her heavenly home on June 1, 2026, at the age of 65.
Born in Arkansas on December 10, 1960, Gwyn was the daughter of the late Floyd Curton and Pauline Burlison. She lived her life with Southern grace, strength, and a vibrant spirit that drew people to her wherever she went.
Gwyn worked as a hairstylist for over 30 years, a profession she truly loved. Through the years, she built lasting friendships with clients who became like family. Her chair was a place of laughter, conversation, and comfort, and her caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She retired only when her health no longer allowed her to continue the work she cherished.
A member of Southside Baptist Church, Gwyn’s faith sustained her throughout life’s joys and challenges. For the past six years, she courageously battled kidney disease with determination and resilience. Though the journey was difficult, she faced it with remarkable strength and unwavering love for those around her.
Of all the titles she held throughout her life, “GG” was the one she treasured most. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Rocsi Elizabeth Anderson and Bric Abel Maronay. They were the center of her world, the light of her life, and her proudest accomplishment. She loved them beyond measure and delighted in every moment spent with them whether it be cheering Rocsi along in dance, cheer or just girl lessons, or telling scary stories with Bric and rooting for him in all his sports endeavors.
Gwyn found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved visiting the beach and always dreamt of a life seaside, swimming in her pool, soaking up the sunshine, supporting her daughter and grandchildren in every step of their lives, spending time with her friends and beloved sisters. She was a true Southern belle who appreciated beauty, laughter, and good company. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and dearly loved her sweet dog, Bella, along with her precious kittens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Curton and Pauline Burlison and nephew, Shane Parker.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cecily Summers Anderson-Maronay and husband Brandon; her sisters, Linda Coburn and husband Jack, and Sissi Curton; her special grandchildren, Rocsi Anderson and Bric Maronay; niece, Carmen Mensch and husband Johnny,
nephews, Shawn Mcmurtrey, Daigan Barker and wife Bret Barker, cherished cousins, friends and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and love.
While our hearts mourn the loss of our beloved GG, we find peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord. Her love, beauty, strength and outgoing spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day….”
