Shirley "Sherby" Diane Hammock McNeary of Wilmar was born June 11, 1954, in Wilmar, AR to John and Helen Harris Hammock. She departed this life in the safety of her home on May 18, 2026. Sherby accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Shady Grove A.M.E. Church where she became a faithful member and remained there until her death. She graduated from Wilmar High School in 1972. She worked at Jack Winters, Burlington Industries, and Georgia Pacific where she retired. She had a passion and talent for sewing and did it effortlessly.
She preceded in death by her mother; her maternal grandparents, Rev. Willie and Lucy Harris; paternal grandparents, Lay and Gussie Hammock; and two nephews, Jason Bias and Terrell Shorter.
She leaves to cherish her memories her "girls", DeShundra Griddine and TeKendra McNeary both of Wilmar, AR; her "baby" Andre Griffen; her father, John Hammock of Wilmar; six sisters, Amanda (Johnny) Orr and Brenda Sheets both of Wilmar, Wendy (Elmo) Shorter of Texas, Latarsha (Andrew) Roshell of Rison, Latesha (Tyrone) Franklin of Lacey, and Leslie Lyles of Wilmar; three brothers, Rev. Gwain (Betty) Hammock of Wilmar, Timmy (Denisa) Hammock of Warren, Rev. Karol (Donna) Hammock of Crossett; three grandchildren, Kenneth Griddine, Jr. of Wilmar, Kourtney (Akeem) Robinson of Princeton, LA, and Zaveah Griffen of Conway, AR; four great grandchildren, Iman, Kamarie, Kamarion, and Kyn'lee; two God Daughters, Talisha and Nydra Binns; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; the Class of 1972 whom she loved dearly; and her three Golden Girls, Viola Cooper, Theresa Shipp, and Linda Riley.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Greater Shady Grove A.M.E. Church in Wilmar, AR. Burial will follow in Wilmar Turner Hill Cemetery.
