Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Health have launched a new campaign aimed at helping mothers access healthcare services closer to home.
The initiative, called “Claim Your Care,” is designed to connect women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant with nearby Arkansas Health Units and available medical resources.
According to the Department of Health, Arkansas operates 92 health units statewide, including 75 that provide services such as prenatal care, mental health support, and postpartum follow-up care. State leaders say many women are still unaware those services are available in their communities.
Renee Mallory said the campaign focuses on making sure women know where to find support throughout pregnancy and after childbirth.
“Services only help if women know about them,” Mallory said. “We want every woman who walks into a health unit to feel supported and confident during pregnancy.”
The campaign officially launched May 6 during the Month of May Block Party and Women’s Health Expo in Little Rock.
Health officials say early and consistent prenatal care can help identify complications sooner, while mental health and follow-up services can provide additional support for mothers after delivery.
More information about the “Claim Your Care” campaign and local health unit services is available through the Arkansas Department of Health.
