She was very passionate about decorating and cooking for the holidays and will be remembered for the ability to make every Christmas feel magical. Her home would be a wonderland of festive decorations, complete with twinkling lights, an abundance of trees, charming train displays, and walls filled with Christmas art. The air in her house was always filled with the aroma of freshly baked treats which was a testament to her love for cooking. She firmly believed that the holidays were a sacred time for families to gather.
Sue married Harvey Sherrill Heird on November 10, 1961, in Jefferson County. She was a longtime member of Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church and later in life joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
