Mary Anne Tullis, 77, of McGehee, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Pine Bluff. She was born July 25, 1948, in Dumas, Arkansas, to the late Marshall and Virginia Borland. Anne was a devoted member of First Assembly of God in McGehee, where she taught children's church alongside Barbra Rowland to raise money for B.G.M.C. (Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade). The Easter egg hunts that they have done for years for the McGehee community.
Her favorite time of the year was going to church camp, where she was well known as “Sarge” by so many. She would collect cans all year to help pay for the kids' way to go to camp to allow them to know the LORD JESUS CHRIST. She worked at the McGehee School cafeteria for over 35 years. She was known for her dedication to the children she served. She worked for Lesia Brockell at the Desha Veterinary clinic. She took care of her family and friends, from taking Ms. Betty Beatty to the beauty shop to getting groceries for Rusty Lee. Taking people to the grocery stores and to doctor appointments. Anne loved people and loved doing things for others. Her heart was her family and working for the Lord. Her words are… Love family and friends. “Hope to see you in Heaven.”
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Edward “Bill” Tullis; and one sister, Marsha Baxter.
Anne is survived by two daughters, Tammy Tullis, of Benton, and Sandy (Harvie) Blevins, of Thomasville, NC; and one son, John “Jed” Tullis, of Waynesville, MO. One brother, Don Borland, of Star City, two sisters, Sylvia Morrison, of Dermott, and Jeannie Leder, of Greenbrier; 8 grandchildren; Jessica (Colby)1 Mack; Bethany (Mike) Ingram; Rachel Wargo. Mitch Blevins, Ruby (Chase) Van Der Decker. Alex Bagnall, Andrew Bagnall-Tullis, Ashton Bagnall-Tullis, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at First Assembly of God in McGehee on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. Officiated by Rev. Rick Harvey.
Interment will follow at McGehee Cemetery. A donation table for B.G.M.C. will be provided at the funeral. Arrangement made by Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee.
