Sheridan senior Skylar Sterritt has made history on the softball field, breaking the Arkansas high school record for career stolen bases.
The Arkansas Razorback softball commit recorded her 188th stolen base Tuesday night against Pine Bluff, surpassing the previous record of 187 set by Hannah Bourgeois from 2013 to 2016.
Sheridan head softball coach Scott Hoffman spoke with Deltaplex News about Sterritt and her accomplishments.
Hoffman said he challenged Sterritt at the beginning of the year to be the leader of this team.
Sterritt also broke the school record for the 100 meters last week.
The milestone solidifies Sterritt as the state’s all-time leader in career steals in softball, capping off a standout high school career defined by speed and consistency on the basepaths.
With eight regular season games still remaining before the postseason begins, She will have additional opportunities to extend her record even further.
