During its regular monthly board meeting Tuesday, the White Hall School Board named Jason Mitchell the Head Football Coach of the White Hall Bulldogs.
District Superintendent Gary Williams confirmed the hiring when he appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.
Morning Show host Greg Horne asked why Mitchell, who was already in the district and had served as interim coach after the death of former coach Ryan Mallett was selected instead of the district going outside as they did three years ago when they hired Coach Daryl Patton, who served for two years before resigning.
Horne said Mitchell had come to White Hall under former Coach Bobby Bolding, then under Mallett for a season before Mallett died tragically, and had worked as an assistant coach under Patton and asked if Mitchell’s familiarity with the players made a difference,
Williams said numbers around the state and nation are dropping for football and Horne asked him if that is a trend or if he was just speaking about White Hall.
