Brames W. Jackson, Jr, 87
1938-2026

Brames W. Jackson was born on May 31, 1938, in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, to the late Brames and Ortallyor Jackson, and was the first of eleven children. He departed this life and earned his wings on Monday, March 30, 2026.

At a young age, Brames embraced Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of St. Ollie M.B. Church. Later in life, he joined Westside M.B. Church, where he served as a Deacon and eventually became a preacher. He went on to become the Pastor of St. Stephens M.B. Church, serving faithfully until his passing.

He devoted 61 years of service to the Star City School District, working as both a janitor and a bus driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry Jackson and Jesse Jackson Sr., and three sons, Robert Lee Moore, Calvin Jackson, and Leon Riley.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Irma Jean Jackson. He leaves behind two sons David Moore and Cedric Johnson, ten daughters: Nancy Mixon, Hazel Jackson, Brindetta Freeman (Bob), Sandra Turntine, Tracie Lee (Kevin), Angela Jackson, Dione Jackson, Quarnerra Jackson, Kaila Brown (Martise), and Aalaiyah Jackson. He is also remembered fondly by two brothers, Woodrow Jackson (Estella) and Leon Jackson (Brenda), as well as seven sisters: Vera Biggers, Maple Robinson, Louise Geathers, Ortallyor Bunting, Dorothy Jackson, Dasie Warren-Jackson, and Clementine Collins. A special sister-in-law, Gracie Jackson (Royce), also survives him. He leaves behind cherished memories of his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nephews and nieces who lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Bite.” Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his dedicated special caregiver, Dajunn Harris, who was like a grandson to him.

Pastor Jackson leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, honored both in his life and his memory.
