The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating its first homicide of 2026 following a domestic-related shooting Friday night on Sassafras Trail.
Deputies were dispatched around 10:03 p.m. March 27 to a residence at 5120 Sassafras Trail in response to a reported disturbance involving a boyfriend and girlfriend.
According to investigators, deputies arrived within minutes and encountered a man exiting the home. The individual, later identified as 56-year-old Scottie Glover, told deputies he had shot his girlfriend.
Glover was taken into custody without incident.
Inside the residence, deputies located 56-year-old Donna Holder deceased. Authorities said the two had been in a relationship for approximately 15 years.
Holder’s body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Glover is expected to be booked into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center on felony probable cause in connection with the shooting.
Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. said the incident highlights the dangers of domestic violence.
“Any loss of life is tragic, but incidents involving domestic violence are especially heartbreaking because they often unfold behind closed doors and leave families forever changed,” Woods said. “Our deputies responded quickly, secured the scene and took the suspect into custody.”
The sheriff’s office extended condolences to Holder’s family as the investigation continues.
Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
