Debra Kay McVay, 74
1951-2026

Debra K. McVay, age 74, of Star City, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was born July 28, 1951, in Hot Springs, to the late Lowell Thacker and Inez Thacker Graham. She was also preceded in death by six siblings and a beautiful granddaughter, Elizabeth M. Garcia.

Debra was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in SAMs, the Ladies Auxiliary, and especially cherished her Ladies Sunday School class. She retired after many years with the Arkansas Department of Transportation. In retirement, she devoted herself fully to what she loved most, caring for her family. She was a loving Mimi to her grandchildren and a devoted mother to her children.

Debra was known for her selfless spirit and servant’s heart. She spent much of her time surrounded by family and always looked forward to discovering her next favorite beach, often traveling with her best friends. She also gave back to her community by volunteering at the food pantry in Star City.

She is survived by her three children, Donald McVay (Tanya), Michelle Powell (Michael), and Brian McVay; her grandchildren, Sarah Garner (Jon), Austin Powell (Sarah), Alex Powell (Neelie), Brandon McVay (Jillian), Jacob McVay (Jacqueline), Lydia McVay, and Luke McVay; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church, located on Bobo Road in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Bro. Mike Powell and Bro Zach Kersey Officiating.
