Gordon Normington, 79
1946-2026

Gordon Lee Normington, age 79, of White Hall was born May 17, 1946, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He passed away March 13, 2026 surrounded by the love of family and friends. Gordon lived a life defined by dedication to his family, faith, and hard work.

Gordon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War where he met and married his bride, Anh. Following his military service, he spent many years working as a professional truck driver, a career he truly loved. Over the years he drove for McKenzie Road Service, Camden Wire, Ryder Dedicated Logistics, and R. L. Smith Trucking. Gordon found great joy in life on the open road and took pride in the work he did.

Outside of work, Gordon loved spending time outdoors, especially caring for his lawn and enjoying the fresh air. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed building and creating things with his hands, often using his carpentry skills to make and repair things for family and friends. He enjoyed watching and reading westerns and his hero was John Wayne. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and dependable nature.

Gordon was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of White Hall First Baptist Church. His faith guided his life and was reflected in the love and care he showed to those around him. Above all else, he was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who deeply cherished his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jean Normington; his stepmother, Phyllis Normington; his sisters, Gladys Nelson and Bertha Westendorf; and his half-sister, Sally Normington.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Anh Normington, whom he married on January 13, 1970. He is also survived by his two daughters, Laura Jean Hart (Jeffrey) and Nancy Ann Holleman (Mark); his cherished grandchildren, Heather Ann Hart, Luke Gordon Holleman (Mallory), and Patrick Hart (Lori); his sisters, Rosalyn Hilton, Katherine Bauer, Bonnie Dillman (Dennis), Pat Buente (Marvin), Terry Normington, Mary Normington and Pam Normington; his brothers, Allen Normington (Bonnie), David Normington (Diane), and Scott Normington; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Gordon will be remembered for his steady presence, his love of family, his strong hands that built and fixed so much, and the miles he traveled doing the work he loved. His life was one of faith, dedication, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
