Jessie Jewell Lundsford Carter, age 80, passed from this life to her eternal heavenly home on March 12, 2026, in McArthur, AR.
Jewell was born in Rison, AR, on October 1, 1945, to Delton and Mildred Lundsford (affectionately known as Ted and Bug).
She was married to her soulmate, Johnie Frank Carter, on February 25, 1966, and faithfully supported and served alongside him in ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 60 years. Her calling and passion in life was ministering to others—including her family and friends, her community, and her church, Grace Church of McArthur, AR.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jackie Leon, Joe Wayne, and John Paul Lundsford; and her great grandson, Carson Carter Hays.
Left to cherish her many sweet and precious memories are her husband, Johnie Carter; her daughters, LaRhonda and Donald Deaton, and Teresa and Bo Benton; her son, Johnny Delton (Del) Carter; and her sister, Rita and David Williams. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Sarah and Adam Greene; John and Lisa Benton; James and Christine Benton; Nathan and Rachel Benton; Whitney and Jacob Hays; Jacob and Carlie Deaton; Evangeline and Will Foster; Eleanor and Tyler Shaffett; and Emma Katherine Carter. She is further survived by fourteen great grandchildren: Ariana Heckman; Justin, Noelle, and Mary Benton; Wyatt Benton; David, Kian, Luke, Jeremiah, and Lucy Benton; Hunter and Addison Hays; Trippe Deaton; and Attie Shaffett. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends from coast to coast, as well as from the island of Dominica, where she was blessed to accompany her husband on several of his many mission journeys.
Services will be held at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Chapel in McGehee, AR, on Saturday, March 14, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. and the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Drake Cemetery in Star City, AR.
Officiating will be Bro. Chip Phillips, Bro. Barney Bryant, and Bro. Bo Benton, with music by Sandra Brown and Bro. David Parker. Serving as pall bearers will be John, James, and Nathan Benton; Justin Benton; Jacob Deaton; and Jacob and Hunter Hays. Honorary pallbearers are Mason and Jack Calloway, Tyler Shaffett, Adam Greene, and Evan Woolard.
