Sterling A. Roaf II, 34, entered eternal rest on February 13, 2026.
Sterling was born on December 3, 1991, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Barbra Ann Roaf and Dr. Sterling A. Roaf Sr. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age.
He graduated from Mill Valley High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2010. Sterling continued his education at Lincoln University before transferring to the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, where he played collegiate basketball on scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with an emphasis in Marketing. During his time there, his team won a conference championship, and he earned the nickname “Stir Fry” among teammates.
Sterling had a deep passion for mentorship and youth development. Through basketball and coaching, he dedicated much of his life to guiding and uplifting young athletes. He later worked with youth through Steppingstone in Kansas, where he coached basketball and served as a mentor and role model to many young people.
Outside of basketball, Sterling enjoyed music, outdoor adventures with friends, water sports, hiking, and living life on the edge, and he had a special love for dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbra Ann Roaf and Dr. Sterling A. Roaf Sr.; and his sisters Setina A. Roaf and Eylorna Marie Roaf-Bones.
He leaves to cherish his memory seven siblings: Steven “Stevie” Roaf, Scott Roaf, Sterling (Vanessa) Roaf Jr., Sonya Roaf, Christie “Keisha” (Reginald) Grant , and Shayna Roaf-Smith, Sessily (Stephen) Williams ( along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, teammates, and the many young athletes whose lives he touched through basketball and mentorship.
Memorial will be at Indiana Baptist Street Church on March 28th at 11 am. Repast afterwards from friends and family.
