Star City and Monticello High School each placed two players on the 22nd Annual Ralph Gross Memorial Baseball All-Tournament Team over the weekend, highlighting strong performances by both programs in the eight-team event.
Star City’s Ben Harmon turned in one of the top performances of the tournament, batting .600 while scoring three runs and driving in five. Harmon also delivered on the mound, throwing a one-hitter and striking out 11 batters in a win over Prairie Grove.
Harmon was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Tyler Grant. Grant hit .571 during the tournament, drove in four runs and scored once for the Bulldogs.
Monticello was led by freshman Crews Preston, who batted .600 for the tournament. Preston scored two runs, recorded an RBI and added a stolen base for the Billies.
Jeremiah Philly also represented Monticello on the all-tournament team. Philly hit .429 over the weekend and contributed an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
The eight-team field featured Nashville, DeQueen, Arkadelphia, Prairie Grove, Genoa Central, Mena, Star City and Monticello.
