1953-2026
Carolyn Bernice Albritton was born March 15, 1953, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late William Crumpton and Mattie Bea Gamble.
She was a proud graduate of the Watson Chapel High School, Class of 1971. In 1981, she received the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Education was her calling, and throughout her professional career, she was devoted to teaching and mentoring children. After residing in Tucson, Arizona for 17 years, Carolyn returned to Pine Bluff in 2014 and continued her teaching career in the Watson Chapel and Pine Bluff School Districts.
Carolyn was deeply devoted to the ‘GOGIRL-4-Life’ Mentoring Program. She served faithfully, providing lunches and support to the program, which mentors seventh grade girls at Pine Bluff Junior High School. Her heart for service extended beyond the classroom and into her church and community.
She married the love of her life, Melvin Davis, Sr., and their union was blessed with a son, Melvin Davis, Jr.
Baptized at an early age, Carolyn continued her service to God when she joined the Old St. James M.B. Church in 2015. There, she was a devoted Nursery Sunday School teacher and always offered a warm smile as a Greeter.
Family meant everything to Carolyn. She stayed closely connected through family reunions, monthly Zoom meetings, graduations and funerals. She especially enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes, often sharing meals and love through her kitchen.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William Crumpton and Mattie Bea Gamble; her husband, Melvin, Sr., and two sisters, Maple Armour and Jackie Albritton.
She leaves cherished memories with her son, Melvin Davis, Jr. (Shalandra) of Conway, Arkansas; five beloved grandchildren, Aubriana Davis, Tatyana Davis, Makiah Davis, Kyler McKisick, and Steffon Edwards; three brothers, Leonard Albritton of Sacramento, California; Steve Albritton (Latisha) of Bakersfield, California, and Albert Albritton (Teresia) of Tucson, Arizona; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Hall (Willie) of Hyattsville, Maryland, Lois Brown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Patricia Albritton of Tucson, Arizona. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends to cherish precious memories.
