Turnovers Plague Lady Lions in 65-54 Road Loss at Grambling St.

In a key SWAC matchup on Thursday night in Grambling, Louisiana, the Grambling State Lady Tigers controlled the tempo from start to finish, earning a 65–54 victory over the UAPB Lady Lions.
Grambling set the tone early with an 8–2 opening run, quickly building momentum and establishing a double-digit lead in the first quarter. By halftime, the Lady Tigers held a comfortable 38–25 advantage, thanks to a balanced offensive attack and stifling defensive pressure.
The Lady Lions attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, cutting into the lead with intermittent scoring runs cutting the deficit to eight. However, timely stops and strong rebounding by Grambling kept UAPB at arm’s length throughout the final 20 minutes.
Indiyah Bowen finished with a team high 12 points, Jailah Pelly added 10 points, while Khaniah Gardner and Jakyra Jackson chipped in 9 points each.
For UAPB, the loss drops them to 3-4 conference play and underscores the consistency challenges the program has faced through the season. The Lady Lions will try to get back on track Saturday, January 24, when they will take on Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, at 2p.m. Live coverage on Deltaplex Radio’s 99.3fm The Beat presented by Central Maloney Inc.
