Betty Copeland, 94
1931-2025

Betty Sanders Copeland, age 94, of White Hall went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026.

She was born on October 27, 1931, at Flippin, AR, to the late Rupert Durward Sanders and Nevah Ida Treadway Sanders. She lived her early life in Flippin and was a graduate of Flippin High School. She was a loving and attentive homemaker who was well known for her home cooking. She loved making chicken and dumplings, fried pies, and banana pudding for her family, friends, and church events. She also loved music. She played the piano and the ukulele and sang in a ladies’ barbershop quartet.

A resident of White Hall since 1955, Mrs. Copeland was active in community events. She served as an alderman, worked the polls during elections for many years, and served on the Jefferson County Board of Equalization. She volunteered for White Hall Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, and as an adult reading teacher.

Mrs. Copeland was an active and faithful member of White Hall First Baptist Church (formerly Lee Memorial Baptist Church). She taught Sunday school for over 50 years in a row, and she sang in the church choir for 58 years. She loved serving her church. One of her favorite activities was serving as the Senior Adult minister. and her voice comforted many families when she sang at their loved ones’ funerals.

She married Billy Wayne Copeland on July 14, 1950, at Flippin. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2025. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Bobby Sanders, Gerald Sanders, and Jimmy Sanders; a great-grandson, Ari Hubbard; and her son-in-law, Ben Farley.

Survivors include her children, Susan Farley and Patrick Copeland (Lori); her sister, Judie Taylor; four grandchildren, Tyler Copeland (Caitlyn), Shelby Lybrand (Spencer), Leslie Hubbard, and Amy Bunting (Jerry); eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Cam “Uncle Sonny” Copeland; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Tomlin.

Mrs. Copeland’s visitation will be Saturday, January 17, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Robinson & Fuller White Hall Chapel. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Paul Williams and Brother Jim Monroe officiating. Burial will be in White Hall Methodist Cemetery.
