Lee Hardman Honored with Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Induction for Legendary Football Career

Lee Hardman, a legendary figure in Arkansas football as both a player and coach, has been selected for induction into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.

Hardman, a Stuttgart native, made his mark as a standout defensive back at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he played from 1968 to 1971. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and built an enduring legacy at Pine Bluff Dollarway High School, establishing one of the most dominant runs in Arkansas high school football history.

Under Hardman’s leadership, Dollarway captured four state championships and posted an impressive 63-1 record over his final five seasons. That stretch included a remarkable 51-game winning streak, cementing the program’s place among the state’s all-time great dynasties.

In 1992, Hardman returned to his collegiate roots when UAPB tapped him to lead its football program as head coach. Despite initial hesitation to leave Dollarway, he accepted the challenge and guided the Golden Lions for 12 seasons. His tenure included back-to-back 8-3 seasons in 1997 and 1998, highlighting a period of sustained competitiveness for the program.

Hardman concluded his collegiate coaching career in 2003 with an overall record of 63 wins and 57 losses. His impact extended well beyond wins and losses, as he became widely regarded as a transformative figure in Arkansas football through his leadership, player development and long-standing commitment to the game.
