Wanda Joyce Hornbeck Cooper, 93
1932-2025

Wanda Joyce Hornbeck Cooper, 93, of Almyra, AR passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. She was born March 2, 1932 to Lester and Carrie Hornbeck.

Joyce loved music and taught many young aspiring pianist. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Almyra where she, for several years, served as the choir director and pianist. She enjoyed painting and drawing and spent many hours giving in to her creative abilities. As an antique dealer she had a physical location as well as an online store on eBay and Etsy. As she once remarked “the hunt for antiques is more fun than the selling”. She retired as librarian from the USDI Fish Farming Experimental Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Cecil Roscoe Cooper, Jr., brothers Charles Wayne (C.W.), Raymond and Glenn.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Rodgers Moore Garry (Charles, Ray-deceased, Rob), Barbara Karkur (Jay-deceased) and Barry (Beth-deceased, Sabrina), and by her brother Dwayne (Barbara).

Her grandchildren, Clayton and Dustin Rodgers (Brenda), Jamie and Mindy Karkur (Barbara) and Slade Stroh and Stahley Seeman (Barry) and her eleven great grandchildren brought her a lot of joy.

A Celebration of Life service will be at the First Baptist Church, Almyra, AR, Sunday, December 7th at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM.

Memorial donations can be made to the Almyra Baptist Church Building Fund or the Baptist Children’s Home in Monticello.
