UAPB wasted no time asserting control. The Golden Lions scored on every drive of the opening quarter to jump out to a 35–0 lead. Their balanced attack (306 rushing/273 passing) kept Westgate Christian on its heels early. Westgate did manage its lone score when quarterback Allen Rainey connected with Kirim Dallas on an 16-yard touchdown reception on a broken coverage.

UAPB introduced a punishing ground game, led by Jalen Jennings’ 5 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown. Bryant Sanchez had 8 carries for 80 yards, while Tysan Robbins was 9 of 13 passing for 134 yards with a touchdown and an interception. D’Avery Robinson led in receiving with 2 catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Turnovers and special teams were critical in widening the gap. UAPB’s defense forced multiple turnovers, which the offense converted into points. Meanwhile, a blocked field-goal return and a 68 yard punt return highlighted special teams play.

Westgate Christian’s offensive efforts were minimal. They were held to just 10 points, including a 47 yard field goal by John Villalobos.

The energy in the stadium was electric. Over 11,000 fans filled the stands for Homecoming, giving the Golden Lions an extra boost as they poured scores onto the board.

UAPB continues its 2025 campaign with momentum on its side. Their next test comes in SWAC play, when the Golden Lions will host the Grambling State Tigers.

Coach Hampton gave his thoughts on the upcoming match-up:
