Tavion Faulk, quarterback for the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week following a standout performance in UAM’s 31–24 road victory over in-state rival Arkansas Tech.
In the Week 4 matchup in Russellville, Faulk completed 21 of 35 passes for 390 yards and three touchdowns, delivering a clutch performance to help the Boll Weevils pull off the upset. His stellar day included a 4-yard scoring strike to TJ Fields, an explosive 85-yard touchdown to freshman Drew Dronet, and a decisive 18-yard connection to Chasden Collins in the fourth quarter. Fields finished with eight receptions for 104 total yards, AK Hazley followed three receptions for 72 yards. On the ground, Jaylen Sulton led the Boll Weevils with 13 carries for 43 yards.
UAM trailed by eight points in the fourth quarter, but Faulk helped engineer the game-tying drive and set up the go-ahead score by Jaylen Sulton. It marks the first time in Faulk’s career that he has earned GAC Player of the Week distinction. Faulk’s breakout performance highlights his growing role as a leader in UAM’s offense — and gives fans high expectations as the season continues.
Defensively, Dajon Doss and Terrell Taylor stood above the rest with seven total tackles and four solo stops on the night each.
UAM head coach Hud Jackson lauded the effort as a key moment for the program, pointing to Faulk’s calm under pressure and ability to elevate his teammates. With homecoming approaching, the Boll Weevils now shift focus to Southern Nazarene University, hosting the Crimson Storm at 2:00 p.m. CT on October 4.
