Historic Preservation Symposium to Feature Leaders and Stakeholders on October 3
The Pine Bluff Historic District Commission, in partnership with Explore Pine Bluff, will convene a symposium to discuss the challenges and opportunities for preservation and revitalization of historic properties in commercial districts.
Make plans to attend the Historic Preservation Symposium on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 8:00am to 3:00pm at The ARTSpace on Main, located at 623 South Main Street in Pine Bluff, AR.
City planners, commercial developers, historic preservationists, and community leaders are invited to participate in a day of discussions on key issues affecting cities throughout the state in revitalization of commercial properties particular historic sites.
Maryann Lee, who chairs the Pine Bluff Historic District Commission, said that funding, tax credits, governmental regulations, building codes and legal issues are a few of the topics that will be discussed at this event. She also shared that speakers representing the state of Arkansas, architectural firms, historic districts and historic preservationists will bring a wide range of ideas and explore best practices for cities like Pine Bluff.
Sheri Storie, Executive Director of Explore Pine Bluff and one of the convenors of this symposium, said “Pine Bluff is at a vital crossroads, and the revitalization of our historic downtown properties will play a significant role in stimulating economic development and enhancing the cultural vibrancy of our community. Explore Pine Bluff is committed to increasing tourism, and the renovation of our historic properties will bring more visitors and foot traffic in the downtown area. The afternoon will feature a keynote address by Belinda Stewart, who owns an architectural firm. She will be speaking on federal tax credits, hiring contractors, and funding a preservation project.
Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Following the symposium, a Historic Pine Bluff Tour will take place from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The day will conclude with a Meet and Greet Reception from 5:00pm to 6:30pm hosted by hosted by Indigo Blue Coffeehouse and Dee Herring Real Estate.
