Arkansas State football is making waves with four standout players named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 Watch List, highlighting top NFL Draft prospects. Quarterback Jaylen Raynor, running back Ja’Quez Cross, wide receiver Corey Rucker, and defensive end Bryan Whitehead are set to represent A-State among the nation’s elite.
Jaylen Raynor, a pivotal figure in A-State’s offense, has accumulated impressive stats, including 5,326 passing yards and 33 touchdowns in his career. His 2024 season was remarkable, featuring 2,783 passing yards and recognition as Offensive MVP in the 68 Ventures Bowl. Raynor enters the 2025 season with several preseason honors.
Ja’Quez Cross has proven his versatility, contributing significantly as a running back and return specialist. With 638 rushing yards and over 1,100 kickoff return yards in recent seasons, Cross is a First Team Preseason All-Sun Belt selection.
Corey Rucker continues to set records as a wide receiver, leading A-State in career receiving yards with 3,037. His 2024 season included 1,053 receiving yards, marking him as a key offensive weapon. Rucker is recognized as a First Team Preseason All-Sun Belt pick.
Defensive end Bryan Whitehead has been a defensive powerhouse, earning Third Team All-Sun Belt honors with 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks in 2024. His performance against Georgia State highlighted his impact on the field.
With these players at the forefront, Arkansas State aims to build on its recent successes, including consecutive bowl appearances. The Red Wolves are set to open their 2025 season against Southeast Missouri, continuing their pursuit of a Sun Belt title.
