The Star City School District has announced the promotion of Matt Garriott as the new Head Football Coach of the Star City Bulldogs. Garriott steps into this role with 14 years of coaching experience and a well-established commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

Garriott steps into the roll following the departure of Chris Norton, who took an administrative position at Perryville.

Garriott said he won’t make many changes to what has already been implemented once the team returns from the dead period.

A 2006 graduate of Fayetteville High School, Garriott made his mark as a three-year starter and earned All 5A West honors during his time there. He continued his football journey at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, where he was a four-year letterman and graduated in 2011.

Garriott began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Evangel before serving in various key coaching roles across Arkansas, including stops at Dumas, Bauxite, DeWitt, and Monticello. Since 2021, he has been an integral part of the Star City Bulldogs’ coaching staff as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator.
