In 1982, Horton took on the role of head coach at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). Over eight seasons, he achieved an impressive 74–12–5 record, leading UCA to two consecutive NAIA Division I national championships in 1984 and 1985, and seven consecutive Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference titles from 1983 to 1989.

Post-coaching, Horton returned to the University of Arkansas in 1990, working in football operations and later serving as president of the Razorback Foundation from 2001 to 2012. His efforts in fundraising and athletic development were significant, and his commitment to the Razorbacks spanned nearly 40 years.

Harold Horton’s legacy continues through his family, including his son Tim Horton, a former Razorbacks wide receiver who also pursued a successful career in college coaching.
