UAPB Softball: Green Sits Down 12 Batters In Shutout Over Grambling State 3-0

GRAMBLING, La. — Junior Sydney Green was dealing on Saturday, hurling a shutout to lead the UAPB Lady Lions over the Grambling Lady Tigers 3-0.

Green went the distance for UAPB, giving up seven hits, walking three and striking out 12.

In the batter’s box, the Lady Lions were led by Green, who went 2-for-3 on the day with two doubles. Freshman Amari Broughton furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Junior Samaria Jackson also chipped in for UAPB, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions took the lead for good in the third, scoring for the first time in the inning. Senior Alyssa Wesley came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.

The Lady Lions then tacked on runs in the seventh inning when they scored two times. The vital hit in the two run frame was an RBI double from Broughton.
