A $50,000 cash-only bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole on drug and weapons-related allegations.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Thomas Brooks, 63, with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Police Detective Kevin Kirk, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said on Monday, police were sent to Brooks’ business on Midland Drive at the request of the Arkansas Probation and Parole Office because Brooks had failed to report to his parole supervisor.

Carson said Brooks has pending drug-related charges and prosecutors will be revoking his bond in that case. He also has prior drug and aggravated assault convictions. He said he would hire his own attorney.
