Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge James Johnson, 51, with two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threatening and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer told the court what Johnson was accused of doing.

Detective Jason Boykin reported that when Johnson was questioned, he said he did not have a gun and had not done what the victims said he did. Police found a small handgun in a closet in Johnson’s room that matched the description of the gun given by the victims.

Kizer said Johnson has a criminal record dating back to 1988, including being sent to prison in 1995. Johnson was ordered to have no contact with the victims until the case is settled.
