Zebras Drop Conference Match-Up to Lake Hamilton

The Pine Bluff Zebras baseball team dropped a conference match-up against Lake Hamilton 16-1 Thursday evening at Taylor Field. The young Zebras pieced together seven hits in the game and managed to stay in contention until late innings.

The Wolves would take an early lead, scoring 4 runs in the top of the second inning. Pine Bluff managed back to back hits by David Carroll and Cason Blunt in the bottom of the third, but ended the inning on a pop fly. Lake Hamilton would strike again adding 2 runs in the top of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. Landon Holcomb doubled in the bottom of the fifth, and scored the Z’s lone run on a RBI double by Carroll. The Wolves took total control of the game in the late innings, scoring 4 runs in the sixth and 6 runs in the seventh to seal the win.

David Carroll lead the Zebras at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI. “We came out a little flat…just made a lot of mistakes.” said Head Coach Ryan Stinson “…we’re just struggling right now but it’s something that can be fixed. So we’ll keep grinding keep working and hopefully we can change things around before the season’s over.” Blunt, Holcomb, Jorrell Grant, Terron Jenkins Jr., and Curtis Standoak Jr. each added a hit in the ballgame.

Pine Bluff will be back in action and take the short trip on I530N to take on the White Hall Bulldogs in a conference match-up Tuesday, April 27th. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Bulldog Field.
